Manchester United have kickstarted their summer rebuild with a deal for midfielder Ederson, but Ineos are showing no signs of slowing down.

On Tuesday night, it was confirmed that Manchester United have struck a £38 million deal for Ederson, with the Brazilian midfielder set to complete his move in early July.

Ederson is set to sign a four-year contract with an option to extend by another year. He will be the first midfielder through the door at Old Trafford this summer, but not the last.

Man Utd’s transfer plan after Ederson signing

Ineos moved quickly to sign Ederson, with the deal confirmed well before the Premier League transfer window opens on June 15.

But with the World Cup around the corner, it seems Ineos are wasting no time getting deals done before the tournament.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X made it clear just hours after the Ederson deal was confirmed that United are already planning another midfield signing.

“Ederson will only be the first midfield signing at Man United, at least another one has been planned,” Romano wrote.

With Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte leaving this summer, Romano adds that United could add a third midfielder this summer, dependent on conditions.

Who Man Utd could target after Ederson

Ineos want Premier League-proven players, and after signing Ederson from the Serie A, it makes sense for the next midfield target to be from a domestic rival.

United are in talks with Mateus Fernandes, and the relegated West Ham star is keen to make a move to Old Trafford.

Fernandes is not in the Portugal squad for the World Cup, so like Ederson, a quick deal could be struck so that he can join up with the United squad for the start of pre-season.

Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Aurelien Tchouameni are also on United’s midfield radar, although deals for those three look much more complicated.
