Transfer journalist David Ornstein is anticipating a big summer transfer window at Manchester United.
Manchester United have already begun their summer transfer business with a £38m deal for Ederson wrapped up.
But with Michael Carrick leading the Red Devils back into the Champions League, there will be extra strain on the squad in 2026/27.
Key players like Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire are pressuring Ineos to deliver a “big” transfer window, and that is exactly what David Ornstein is expecting at Old Trafford.

David Ornstein’s big Man United transfer prediction
With reports that United have a £250m transfer budget this summer, fans can expect lots of action and new signings.
Speaking on The Athletic podcast, Ornstein predicted United to be busier than all other Premier League clubs this summer.
“Manchester United need volume due to them stepping up into Champions League football after no European football and their squad is not sufficiently well stocked,” Ornstein said.
“I can see a lot of activity at Old Trafford.
“So if I were to give you one who’ll be the busiest, I am going to say Manchester United.”

How many more signings could Man Utd make
With the Ederson deal already wrapped up, Ineos have already moved on to their next target and talks with Mateus Fernandes have taken place.
It seems as though United want three midfield signings this summer, so fans can expect more stories involving the likes of Alex Scott, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson.
There have also been links to centre-back targets, including a potential bid for Cristian Romero.

Finally, Michael Carrick made it clear that United want a new left winger, and there have been links to AC Milan’s Rafael Leao as well as a handful of young winger targets.
In total, that makes two more midfield signings, a centre-back and a left winger who could all arrive at Old Trafford this summer.
