Manchester United’s electric Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri is the subject of much interest in January as he becomes available.

Facundo Pellistri has had his chances in the Manchester United team this season however on the main, he’s failed to live up to the expectations many fans have.

He’s been good in periods but ultimately hasn’t shown enough to force himself into the team and with Amad Diallo impressing on his returnErik ten Hag‘s mind could be made up.

This is according to a HITC report during the week which explained that the ‘excellent‘ Uruguay international was to be allowed to depart permanently this summer.

Interest was believed to be coming from clubs in Spain, Italy and France and now on Spanish team have been named as an interested party.

Villareal join Facundo Pellistri race

Interest in United’s talented winger is heating up and now a Spanish side are in the hunt to bring him permanently to Spain.

The Sun has reported that Villareal are the club who have ‘reignited’ their interest in the 22-year-old, amid hopes they can get him on a permanent deal.

Villareal of course are the side who broke United’s hearts in 2021 as they won the Europa League, beating United in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Competition is expected to be fierce with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Nice side also in the running.

It is unclear what kind of fee Pellsitri could draw – although United won’t sell for less than the £9m they paid for him in 2020.

A loan until the end of the season also remains an option for United however a decent offer will likely see ties cut permanently.

Manchester United continue winger clearout

With Pellistri a possible departure, he would join Anthony Elanga and also likely Jadon Sancho as wingers to exit Old Trafford in the last year.

This would leave just; Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo, Antony and Marcus Rashford as senior options here.

While four options are a good amount, it could leave Ten Hag keen to strengthen which would explain links to three different wingers ahead of the summer.
