Manchester United appear to be in the market for another central defender this summer as Ruben Amorim chases new signings.
Matheus Cunha has signed for Manchester United, but Ruben Amorim needs more additions before the Premier League season begins.
United may be in the market for another defender after Jonny Evans announced his retirement.
Victor Lindelof has also departed Old Trafford, meaning United are down two centre-backs, even if they didn’t play key roles.
Both Evans and Lindelof are naturally right-footed, so United could look for a direct replacement.
Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande fancies a move to Old Trafford, but United may look towards the Italian market.

Yann Aurel Bisseck release clause emerges amid Manchester United interest
Reports in May suggested that United were showing an interest in Yann Aurel Bisseck of Inter Milan.
The German defender joined Inter from AGF in 2023, completing a bargain switch from Denmark to Italy.
Bisseck has become a key man for Inter, operating either in the heart or on the right side of Inter’s back three.
That familiarity with playing in a three-man defence may have sparked United’s interest in Bisseck, potentially believing that he can slot right into Amorim’s back line.
EXPRESS in Bisseck’s native Germany now claim that Bisseck actually has a release clause in his Inter contract.
They suggest Bisseck can leave Inter for a fixed fee of around €60million to €70million (£51.5million and £60million).
Intriguingly, it’s added that the chances of Bisseck staying at Inter until his contract ends in 2029 are ‘slim’.
Bisseck is happy in Milan, but Inter are ‘very interested’ in selling Bisseck to raise funds this summer.
That means United may be able to strike a deal for much less than that rumoured release clause, with Inter surely willing to negotiate on the giant defender.

United may only sign a defender later in the window
Bisseck’s size and athletic ability will be very appealing, and United are surely attracted to his defending in wide areas as well as his ability to progress the ball.
The 6ft 5in defender is an ascending talent and a great fit for Amorim’s back three, but a new defender may not be a priority until later in the window.
United still want Bryan Mbeumo and are attempting to thrash out a deal with Brentford for the Cameroonian’s signature.
A new striker will also be on the radar, while reports suggest United want a midfielder on loan to bolster Amorim’s engine room.
Any deal for a defender, especially one as potentially expensive as Bisseck, would surely rely on major sales first.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho are all for sale this summer, and United may only be in a position to move for Bisseck if those misfits move on.
