Manchester United are closing in on securing signing number three this summer with the Benjamin Sesko race at an all-time high.
Over the past week, it has become crystal clear that Manchester United are prioritising a move to sign Benjamin Sesko in an effort to bolster the striker position.
After signing Bryan Mbeumo, United have clearly turned attention to a striker, with Ollie Watkins and Sesko the two names to be mentioned consistently.
Sesko is the priority for United, however, with Ineos competing against Newcastle United for a third time this summer in an effort to sign the Slovenian striker.
After opening talks last weekend, United bid a total package of £73m for Sesko on Tuesday, which shows the intention to sign the 6ft 4in striker.
However, United have been waiting for Sesko’s decision to be made. Well now, United in Focus understands that the 22-year-old has communicated his final decision over which of the two Premier League sides he wants to join.

Benjamin Sesko chooses Manchester United over Newcastle
With offers on the table at Leipzig from both United and Newcastle, the cards are held by Sesko.
Well now, United in Focus‘ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has learned that the Slovenian international has now told Newcastle that he wants to be Old Trafford-bound.
United in Focus understands that Sesko has decided he wants to join United with the Magpies now informed of this decision by the 6ft 4in striker.
“As we reported on UIF, there was an ‘internal confidence’ within United that they would get Sesko, they respected Newcastle’s pursuit, but they believed they would get him.
“Sesko’s camp made it clear to United that they had to come in and show it, they couldn’t just bid low – United were clear they really wanted him and this proves it.”
The bid from United is still being considered by Leipzig, and a decision is not expected to be far away with all parties eager to get it done.
This feels like one to watch over the coming hours and days.
Manchester United’s transfer strategy has been completely flawless this summer
For many, United’s summer has felt slow considering it took six weeks to sign Mbeumo from Brentford, however, if Sesko arrives in the next few days, then there can be no criticisms around the way Ineos have managed their negotiations.
Each of the three major signings – if Sesko joins – will have chosen United over other Premier League clubs, which is exactly what Amorim wanted.
Amorim told Viktor Gyokeres not to join if he had doubts, instead, he just wanted players who picked the Red Devils as their number one priority, which happened with Mbeumo, Cunha and now Sesko.
Waiting for players to make their decision before moving has meant that when Ineos make a move to sign a player, it feels almost certain that it will fall into place.
This is far different to the years gone by, in which United spent months chasing Frenkie de Jong for example trying to convince the player to join.
