Manchester United missed out on signing Viktor Gyokeres this summer but stuck to their transfer philosophy with Benjamin Sesko.
Ineos find themselves embroiled in a transfer battle for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, but Manchester United did not flinch at Newcastle’s aggressive approach.
Newcastle made an improved £69m bid for Sesko on Monday as they look to find a replacement for the outgoing Alexander Isak.
Despite Newcastle bidding twice, United waited patiently before making a £74m bid of their own on Monday afternoon.

Benjamin Sesko will receive same Man United message as Viktor Gyokeres
Earlier this summer, United were heavily linked with Viktor Gyokeres, but Amorim’s former Sporting star preferred a move to Arsenal.
When asked about those transfer links, Amorim sent a warning to Gyokeres, claiming that no player will sign for the Red Devils unless they are fully committed to representing the club.
“We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain competitions,” Amorim said.
Now, Ineos are taking the exact same approach with Sesko with reports that United were waiting for a clear indication from the player that he wanted to join before submitting their bid.
Journalist David Ornstein previously explained that United have a clear transfer philosophy this summer that they will not bid until a player’s desire is “clear and obvious”.
The fact that United have now bid suggests Sesko has informed United that he wants to join.
Ineos are changing Man United’s transfer approach
The recruitment at United has been undeniably poor over the last decade, but there have been significant improvements since the Ineos takeover.
Ineos signings have been successful so far at United, and the Red Devils have enjoyed a strong summer transfer window despite missing out on European football.
Overpaying for players has been a big issue for United in recent years, but Ineos have been trying to minimise that this summer.

Ineos waited six weeks to get the Mbeumo deal over the line, and United also took a patient approach with Sesko.
There will be eyebrows raised at the size of United’s bid, but given the current market and the prices of other strikers around Europe, Ineos clearly felt a deal for an exciting 22-year-old forward was worth the value.
