Manchester United will surely spend on a new striker this summer but may now face a battle with Bayern Munich.

Manchester United need major signings this summer and adding goals to Ruben Amorim’s squad must be the number one priority.

United’s tally of 42 goals in 35 Premier League games simply isn’t good enough and must change next season.

Matheus Cunha is expected to join United but the Brazilian is likely to play as a number 10 if he does arrive from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Juventus want Rasmus Hojlund and the Dane could depart Old Trafford just two years after arriving from Atalanta.

That could pave the way for a new striker to join United, with a host of names already being linked.

Bayern Munich join race for Manchester United target Patrik Schick

United allegedly held talks to sign Victor Osimhen earlier this week, meeting with the Napoli striker’s representatives.

Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is also on the United radar and Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick cannot be ruled out.

Recent reports suggested United have made contact for Schick ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Czech forward has been brilliant this season, notching 19 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.

Bayer Leverkusen may cash in on the 29-year-old and United seemingly view him as a proven goalscorer who can make an instant impact.

United may now face a real battle for Schick, as Sport Bild claim Bayern Munich want to sign Schick as backup to Harry Kane.

Kane is Bayern’s only recognised number nine and Schick could be offered a big move to Bavaria.

Schick could be left with a big dilemma; to join United as first-choice striker, or head to Bayern and potentially sit on the bench more often than he starts.

United will be watching Leverkusen’s situation closely

This time a year ago, Bayer Leverkusen won the league and cup double in a remarkable unbeaten season, with their only defeat in any competition coming in the Europa League final against Atalanta.

Xabi Alonso’s side have lost twice this season and have missed out on the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich.

All of a sudden, this Leverkusen could be broken apart, with Alonso eyed up to become the new Real Madrid boss.

Star playmaker Florian Wirtz is a wanted man and United are interested in defender Jonathan Tah, who will leave Leverkusen on a free transfer at the end of his contract this summer.

United may hope to land both Tah and Schick in a double raid on Leverkusen, who look poised for a busy summer with plenty of comings and goings.
