Manchester United’s own transfer business is picking up pace but an unexpected revenue boost could be coming in the form of Alvaro Fernandez.
Alvaro Fernandez has woken up the footballing world to his abilities with his displays at Benfica this season and become the subject of transfer rumours.
United’s Fernandez’ buy-back clause makes them the club that holds all the cards and they also have an additional sell-on option.
Apparently, the wind of that has reached Real Madrid, who want to deal with Man Utd for Fernandez’s transfer and make it easier to do.
Now, the man at the center of it all, Fernandez’s agent, has broken his silence on a transfer that could be lucrative for Man Utd if done correctly.

Alvaro Fernandez agent on transfer rumours
When United sold Fernandez for just £6 million in the summer, they wouldn’t have thought that it would come back to bite them so soon.
Fernandez has greatly impressed at Benfica and his Champions League displays, in particular, have made him the apple of the eye of footballing elites.
For a Spaniard, Real Madrid or Barcelona is often the ultimate transfer destination so when Madrid came calling for him, Man Utd sensed an opportunity.
They could buy him back from Benfica and then sell him to Madrid, although the legalities behind that deal make it a bit complicated.
Apparently, it won’t even reach that point as Fernandez’ agent has made it clear in his recent interview, covered by Portuguese outlet A Bola.
Ginés Carvajal, his agent said: “I don’t know where this news comes from, everything that is said in it is pure fantasy and, as such, does not deserve any comment from me. Carreras is doing very well at Benfica and will continue there.”
Man Utd need to keep an eye on Fernandez
Even if the agent has appeared to pour cold water on these current rumours, United would do well to keep an eye on developments surrounding Fernandez.
They have a huge role to play in any future sweepstakes and could well be in a win-win situation if and when he moves on from Benfica.
It is unlikely that Fernandez ever plays for United again with Patrick Dorgu’s signing, along with Harry Amass’ breakout and Diego Leon’s arrival.
However, with United’s transfer policy increasingly looking for wonderkids on the cheap, even the sell-on fee for Fernandez could be worth a player or two!
Their ideal scenario with Fernandez’ sail is coming to fruition and either way, United will emerge as winners, later if not now.
