Manchester United will surely sign a new left back in 2025 and a familiar face could ye take a return to Old Trafford very soon.
This may be difficult to believe but Tyrell Malacia is on his way back to fitness at Manchester United.
Yes, after being on the sidelines for more than a year, Malacia is back on the grass and gearing up for a return to action.
Malacia has not been the only issue at left back though as Luke Shaw’s injury history continues to be a disappointment.
Shaw has not featured at all for United this season and Erik ten Hag is left hoping that he returns to action sooner rather than later.
These problems meant that United are surely in the market for another left back in 2025 with a handful of names suggested.

Alvaro Carreras Fernandez on Manchester United return
Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell has been linked yet again whilst Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies has emerged as a rather lofty target.
We can’t really see Chilwell arriving and Davies may be a little out of reach, so United may end up looking elsewhere.
Alvaro Carreras Fernandez is a serious option though, just months after being sold by United.
The Spaniard is now shining for Benfica and that has sparked rumours of a return to Old Trafford.
Reports earlier in October suggested that United were rivalling Barcelona and Real Madrid for Fernandez.
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that United are monitoring Fernandez closely ahead of a potential return.
Fernandez has now been asked about rejoining United but he played the question with a fairly straight bat.
Speaking to Record, Fernandez suggested that he isn’t thinking about a return to United and is just focused on trying to develop with Benfica.
“I only think about Benfica. I’m only focused here. I’ll try to keep up the same level, try to help the team as much as possible. I’m just another player on the team,” said Fernandez.
Fernandez buy-back clause
United’s decision to sell Fernandez over the summer didn’t go down well with everybody, but United were smart in this deal.
United inserted a buy-back clause into Fernandez’s transfer, meaning he can return to Old Trafford for just £16.7million.
Fernandez’s release clause for any other club is around £42million, meaning United have something of an advantage over other clubs.
This is one deal that United will have on the back burner rather than really pushing for a swift return in January.
Fernandez still has some developing to do in Portugal but his progress has been very encouraging, sparking United’s interest for a potential investment.
