Sverre Nypan close to joining Manchester City
Nypan’s name has been associated with United for a long time now.
The Rosenborg wonderkid has emerged as a real talent in Norway, earning comparisons to Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard along the way.
United have been watching Nypan for years and he caught the eye for Rosenborg during a friendly against United last summer.
Reports in January suggested that United’s interest in Nypan had cooled, which came as a surprise to many supporters.
Nypan was expected to join Aston Villa instead, but that deal is now off – but he is still set for a Premier League move.
The Athletic claim Nypan is poised to join Manchester City, with Fabrizio Romano adding that he will head on loan to Girona.

Manchester United must hope Sverre Nypan doesn’t become a superstar
This move will sting for many United fans, especially as Nypan appeared to be interested in a move to Old Trafford.
Nypan described a potential United move as a dream, making it clear that he would be keen to make the move.
United chose to back away from Nypan, and there is a real chance we witness him live up to his potential across Manchester.
United have seen Lucas Bergvall excel for Tottenham Hotspur, having previously taken the Swede on trial.
There are parallels there; a talented, young Scandinavian midfielder heading to one of United’s Premier League rivals.
Nypan shining elsewhere would sting enough after United backed away, but seeing him become a star for City would be very difficult to stomach.
Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell must have their reasons for snubbing Nypan, and we can only hope that they have other top talents in mind for United this summer.
