Manchester United are close to clinching a fifth signing of the window, and the spending might not be finished.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United signed Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich to follow swoops for Lille centre-back Leny Yoro and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.
United have struck an agreement with PSG for Manuel Ugarte, the Uruguayan midfielder, but the Red Devils could add another midfielder before the summer window slams shut.
With Scott McTominay, Hannibal Mejbri, and potentially Christian Eriksen, departing, United would need another midfield option. Here are three choices the Red Devils could pursue for a decent fee (anywhere from £20-£30 million).

Manu Kone – Borussia Monchengladbach
French midfielder Manu Kone has been linked with a move to United previously and a fresh attempt to get a deal done may well be an interesting one for the Red Devils.
With just two years left on his deal at Monchengladbach, Kone could be available for £20-30 million and if the Red Devils have money to spare, he could be an interesting option.
Kone made just 18 Bundesliga stars for the German side but at just 22 years of age, he has plenty of room to develop and grow into a top-class midfield option.
Quinten Timber – Feyenoord
Before you sigh and roll your eyes at the thought of another Eredivisie signing moving to Old Trafford, hear me out on this one.
Quinten Timber, brother of Arsenal’s Jurrien, could be an interesting attacking midfield option that United should be looking at. Timber also has just two years remaining on his deal with the Dutch side, so he may be available for a decent fee.
He excels on the ball, progressing with the ball as well as his goalscoring exploits, as he netted seven times in the Eredivisie for the club.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who managed the midfielder, told ZiggoSport on Timber: “He is a very special player. He has the strength and speed to create an overload in midfield. I think he has a very good mentality and is a good lad. [Quinten and Jurrien] are both very, very good.”
Andre – Fluminense
Perhaps the third and final option is a much less left-field one but surely one Premier League side will soon take a punt on Andre from Fluminense before Friday’s deadline.
The Brazilian midfielder looked set to move to Fulham but the Cottagers signed United target Sander Berge instead.
Andre could be available for just £25 million and the 22-year-old has superb technical ability and great composure on the ball, which is something that current option Casemiro is missing.
United had reportedly begun negotiations for Andre over the weekend but with the imminent signing of Ugarte, that talk went quiet.
