Manchester United transfer news: Manu Kone price tag drops

Manchester United are expected to recruit in midfield this summer with question marks hanging over the futures of Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay.

Even Fred, for all his recent improvement, only signed a one-year option, while United need a younger midfielder to alleviate pressure from Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

On loan Marcel Sabitzer is a possibility, while United may also dream of paying big to win the Jude Bellingham race.

Another option might be another Bundesliga midfielder Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone.

Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone an option for Manchester United

Manchester United were linked with Manu Kone in 2021 by Footmercato when he was playing at Toulouse.

Last year L’Equipe reported United were continuing to monitor Kone during his time in the Bundesliga.

He has continued to perform strongly, making 21 starts for ‘Gladbach this season, with L’Équipe claiming last month that Kone is attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The central midfielder is still only 21-years-old, and a very bright prospect, and his price tag could increase his viability.

Fussball Transfers report Kone could be allowed to leave this summer for just 30 million Euros, working out at just £26 million.

This is a very affordable figure for a player whose value is expected to soar over the next five years, with a call-up to the France international team likely over the next 12 months.

Last year Sport1 reported he would cost more like £40 million, however, this summer Kone will have only two years remaining on his contract.
