Manchester United have lost back-to-back games under Ruben Amorim which will tell him a lot about his squad, now one player looks to have no place at the club.
After a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest, Ruben Amorim told fans to remain patient and promised that eventually things will come good for Manchester United.
The loss came through individual errors by United, as the performance was deserving of three points for the Red Devils.
However, this will take time with plenty of things needing to be fixed within the club, both on and off the field – including Ineos’ sporting structure which has lost Dan Ashworth.
But these early days of Amorim’s reign will be where he lays the groundwork for success with his style being implemented, as we have seen already.

Antony was left out of the squad completely
When the squad was announced on Saturday, one notable exclusion was Antony, as there was no room for the Brazilian – with no sign or suggestion of an injury.
We already know Antony is not a starter in Amorim’s eyes, but he was not even included on the bench, with no space as the bench was packed with players who are more in Amorim’s plans.
Manchester United bench vs Nottingham Forest
- Altay Bayindir
- Harry Maguire
- Noussair Mazraoui
- Tyrell Malacia
- Casemiro
- Christian Eriksen
- Mason Mount
- Marcs Rashford
- Joshua Zirkzee
When reviewing the bench, it is hard to imagine Antony getting named ahead of any player which sends a very clear message to Erik ten Hag’s record signing.
Antony cost £86m back in 2022 and has not looked like a player worth even half this fee since then, which means there is a real possibility that January will see his time come to an end.
Ruben Amorim looks set to lose Antony
Antony’s career at Old Trafford never quite topped his debut in which he scored against Arsenal – this was the first of 12, but this is an awful return considering he played 89 times.
Due to two years of below-par performances and having no real place in this team, United have told Antony he can leave in January.
In the dying months of Ten Hag’s reign, he lost faith in Antony too, which was the beginning of the end as the Brazilian was once his first name on the team sheet.
Following being left out against Forest, rumours are now resurfacing that Antony will depart the club as Amorim clearly does not rate him.
