Michael Carrick namechecked both Andrey Santos and Mason Mount during his post-match reflections of Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Wrexham on Saturday.
Both Andrey Santos and Mason Mount were named in the Manchester United starting XI against Wrexham for the clash at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.
However, the two United players were on the pitch when Sam Smith broke the deadlock in the first half for Wrexham, which later proved to be the winner.
Santos and Mount played only 45 minutes of the pre-season fixture in Finland before Michael Carrick made a complete overhaul of the Man Utd side at half-time.

Speaking after Wrexham’s win over Manchester United, Michael Carrick said that Andrey Santos and Mason Mount were part of his “little positives” from the match.
“There’s [sic] loads of little positives to take from the game,” he told MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“I thought Andrey and Mason [Mount] did some really good things and connected really well. I could see some positives there.”
United manager Carrick focused on the “top end of the pitch,” but the 44-year-old Red Devils legend should also put the focus on the other end of the field as well.
Despite conceding in the first half, Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven put on a strong defensive partnership in Man Utd’s first pre-season match of the summer tour.
Ayden Heaven looked confident on the ball and was solid with his defending, while Harry Maguire’s veteran experience shone through with his calmness at the back.
Maguire naturally slotted back into the Man Utd captaincy role due to the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who has received extended leave time due to this summer’s World Cup.
