Manchester United’s newest signing Matheus Cunha hopes to have an instant impact for the Red Devils.
Manchester United have already made a statement of intent for next season by signing one of the Premier League’s best players.
Matheus Cunha signs for £62.5 million after an impressive season for Wolves where he scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists.
Cunha will take the number 10 shirt, where he will attempt to make an instant impact to help United improve during the 2025/26 season.

Matheus Cunha stole the show on Mason Mount’s debut
Manchester United are used to making big money signings. And some work out a lot better than others.
Making a good impression on your debut is a good place to start, and unfortunately for Mason Mount in 2023, this did not happen.
Mount started for United when Erik ten Hag’s side took on Wolves in August 2023, winning 1-0 through a Raphael Varane header from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka assist.
Wolves were unlucky not to leave the game with a draw, with Andre Onana appearing to give away a penalty in the final minute, but the spot-kick was not given.
They had chances to win the game, with Matheus Cunha completely overrunning Manchester United’s midfield, time and time again, finding acres of space that would haunt Erik ten Hag’s side all year long.
Mason Mount was missing in action on his debut after his £55 million move from Chelsea. He was substituted off after 68 minutes after making only 30 touches, with no shots at goal and no chances created.
Cunha stole the show for Wolves, hitting the woodwork, attempting five shots at goal and completing three successful dribbles. It was an impressive performance that he has continued to build on, becoming more ruthless.
Now Matheus Cunha could replace Mason Mount
Two years on, Matheus Cunha has been snapped up by Manchester United and he could be taking Mason Mount’s spot.
Mount has struggled with injuries during his two seasons at United, and when he was given a major chance in the Europa League Final, he did not seize the opportunity.
Cunha looks set to be an impactful upgrade, with Mount potentially just existing as his deputy in one of the number 10 roles.
United’s fixtures will be announced later in June, and it won’t be a surprise if when United open the season, Cunha is in the starting line-up, and Mount is on the bench.
