Manchester United have bolstered the team’s attack, with Matheus Cunha signing from Wolves. Here is everything you need to know about him.

Ever since Ruben Amorim sent Antony and Marcus Rashford packing in January, heavy summer additions in attacking positions looked likely.

Manchester United were toothless for much of this season, with Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho really struggling in front of the goal with finishing and decision-making.

Only five teams in the Premier League scored fewer goals than United this season, which has led to United moving quickly to secure a deal for Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

United have agreed to pay £62.5 million for Cunha, who will wear the number 10 shirt next season.

Who is Matheus Cunha?

Matheus Cunha was Wolves star player in 2024-25, with his goals key to their survival in the Premier League.

He has had a phenomenal season for Wolves, with Cunha’s qualities embarrassing United back in December, which must have impressed Amorim.

Where and when was Matheus Cunha born? How old is he?

The Olympic gold medalist was born on the 27th of May 1999, making him 25 years old. Cunha was born in Joao Pessoa, Brazil, which is a whopping 4,594 miles from Old Trafford, although this summer he is now making the 77 mile trip from Molineux to Manchester.

Who does Matheus Cunha play like? How good is he?

This season, Cunha has been one of the Premier League’s best players despite missing a few games due to suspensions. Cunha has scored 15 Premier League goals, and 17 in all competitions.

In terms of his play style, Cunha plays just like France’s Antoine Griezmann, who United missed out on the chance to sign back in 2017, when he stayed with Atletico Madrid after their transfer ban.

Both are forwards who can do it all, as seen above, yet Cunha is a far better ball carrier, and this would be the biggest skill he would bring to United.

Cunha also has elite ball striking and creativity, being the kind of player that Bruno Fernandes would love to play with, and a drastic improvement behind the striker on the likes of Alejandro Garnacho.

Rio Ferdinand is a big fan of United signing Cunha, labelling him a ‘really dynamic player’, urging Amorim to buy the Brazilian.
