Man Utd star’s value has soared by sixteen times since signing and true value is even higher, he’s the Ineos blueprint

Ineos have caught a lot of flak this transfer window for their slow pace of business after sealing Matheus Cunha early, but they have a clear blueprint to work from.

Even when Man Utd agreed a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, the fact that it came more than a month after registering interest left some fans miffed at the deal.

Ineos have brought in more than a full XI of players since taking over the transfers last summer, including young, but high-potential players like Sekou Kone.

However, one star, whose value has soared by six times since arrival, figures to be the blueprint for the future. It’s a generational success for a club that has missed the mark too often in the market.

Man Utd see Ayden Heaven’s value soar

When Man Utd bought Ayden Heaven from Arsenal for a fee of around £1.5m, everything included, not many eyebrows were raised on the deal.

Heaven was widely expected to stay with the academy squads for at least the 2024/25 season, so when he ended the season as one of the first names on the teamsheet, it wasn’t a surprise.

First name on the U21 teamsheet, that is! However, Heaven surprised everyone with the speed of his breakthrough, including Ruben Amorim, who thanked Jason Wilcox for signing Heaven.

The gratitude is well-placed since Heaven’s value at the time of making the move was just about €300k, as per Transfermarkt.

In about six months since signing, that same figure has soared to €5 million, an increase of about 16.6 times on the original value.

That is without taking into account that if someone were to offer €5m for Heaven today, United won’t even give it the courtesy of replying.

The player is clearly not for sale, and any offer less than £80-90m won’t be looked at twice before being rejected out of hand.

If that is taken as a measure of value, then Heaven’s value has already soared by a remarkable three hundred times. Not bad for an investment worth £1.5 million six months ago!

Heaven is the blueprint

It goes without saying that not every gamble like this will work out to such an extent, where an academy player at another club immediately becomes a starter at Old Trafford.

However, the initial investment was so low that it should become Ineos’ blueprint for how they approach the transfer market.

Proven quality will be needed, as evidenced by the signing of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and that should be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

In the meantime, informed punts like these are a no-brainer for a club the size of Man Utd, where Heaven’s total fee is 1/4th of the add-ons for Mbeumo.

Heaven is the best case scenario for such an informed punt. The worst case is that the player leaves in a few years after failing to make a mark, but not before loans or a potential sale ensure United turn a profit.

That’s as safe an investment as United can possibly get in a ruthless window.
