Man Utd must be on red alert to repeat Chido Obi trick this summer, another elite talent for Ineos

Manchester United have signed several top prospects in the past 12 months, and now another elite talent has become available.

Since Ineos took charge of footballing operations at Old Trafford, youth has been at the forefront of recruitment.

Last summer saw the arrival of Leny Yoro – who went straight into the senior team – while Manchester United also signed Sekou Kone from Guidars FC and then Chido Obi from Arsenal also arrived.

This trend continued in the winter transfer window, with United completing deals to sign both Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu.

Now, ahead of the summer transfer window, United once again have young talents on the agenda. Chris Rigg is set to be a top target, while United are already planning to sign Geovany Quenda.

But United should also move to sign a 17-year-old who is set to leave Crystal Palace this summer.

Jesse Derry rejects Crystal Palace contract

Last summer saw United swoop to nab Samuel Lusale from Crystal Palace, and this summer Ineos could sign another talent from Copers Cope.

In South London at Selhurst Park, the best U18 talent is Jesse Derry and the 17-year-old is due for a move this year.

It comes according to The Athletic, the England U19 international has rejected a professional contract offer from Crystal Palace.

The forward has told Palace of his intention to leave this summer when his scholarship contract expires – amid concerns over a pathway to the first-team, which mimics the concerns of Obi before a United move last season.

This swoop by United would be a statement equal to signing Obi last summer, which says a lot considering the goal-scoring record Obi boasted at Arsenal.

Jesse Derry would be a superb signing for Manchester United

Derry is a talent who could become elite with the academy coaching United offers.

Still a U18 regular, Derry has scored nine U18 Premier League goals in eight games which is a record Obi and Gabriele Biancheri would be proud of.

Derry boasts an impressive goal catalogue, often scoring stupendous goals – which saw him step up into first-team training for the Eagles.

Crystal Palace expert Billy Meyers explained how talented Derry is.

“It would be a tremendous shame if Crystal Palace were to lose Jesse Derry.

“With his low socks, close ball control and hairband in place, the England U19 international looks and plays like a young Jack Grealish.

“He is a special talent who I feel could go on to blossom in the Premier League if he continues on his current trajectory.”

So now Derry has become available, it seems crystal clear that United must be on red alert and plan to make a move this summer.
