Ineos‘ recruitment strategy since taking part ownership of the club one year ago has entailed the recruitment of several world-leading young talents.
Leny Yoro is the biggest example, with the Frenchman perceived as a generational talent at centre-back.
Following this, Manchester United added academy starlet Chido Obi along with Sekou Kone from Mali.
Most recently, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s desire to seek out wonderkids and sign the next Kylian Mbappe has led United to sign Diego Leon from Paraguay.
Now, yet another generational talent must be earning the attention of United scouts as he breaks out in Liga Portugal this season.
Manchester United must sign Rodrigo Mora
Over the past few weeks, there have been reports of United conducting several scouting trips to Portugal, with Porto among the clubs watched.
Striker Samu Aghehowa has caught United’s eye. The former Atletico Madrid forward impressed against United in the Europa League and has been on fire all year for the Portuguese giants.
However, now it is another Porto talent who should be on United’s radar.
17-year-old Rodrigo Mora has caught the eye recently, with his three goals and three assists this season in the league for Porto.
On Friday, CNN Portugal was discussing the topic of Mora, and one journalist discussed whether he would be good enough for United.
Nuno Farinha explained that Mora is better than most of the United squad already and argued that Amorim would love to have him in the ranks, with a £37m release clause reasonable, relative to his quality.
With seasoned professionals currently flopping at Old Trafford, youth certainly looks like it might be the way forward.
Who is Porto talent Rodrigo Mora?
Born in 2007, Mora is a wonderkid from the same year as PDC World Champion and United fan Luke Littler.
Like Littler, Mora has been tearing things up in his profession recently, with Porto’s little attacking midfield gem shining in Liga Portugal.
Born in Custoias on the outskirts of Porto, Mora grew up a 12-minute drive from the Dragao Arena and so is likely living his dream right now.
Portugal’s U21 right-footed wizard turns 18 in May and with how his last few months have gone, he could be a household name in Portugal by then.
The player has been labelled a “gift” by Publico in Portugal and is already a record-breaker from when he became the youngest ever player to play professional football in Portugal, for Porto’s second team – aged 15, eight months and 10 days.
With the likes of Sverre Nypan already wanted at United, Mora would fit in perfectly alongside the talented young squad Ineos are building.
