Ineos’ transfer approach is slowly showing long-term benefits that Man Utd have lacked post-Sir Alex Ferguson

Ineos’ activity in the transfer market could finally yield an outcome that Manchester United fans have not seen in abundance in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team has overseen football operations at Old Trafford since the 73-year-old Ineos chief became a co-owner of Manchester United back in 2024.

Ineos has had its highs and lows in the transfer market, but last summer’s transfer spending spree seemed to signal a change in the winds at United for the better.

Man Utd sent a strong statement of intent by bringing the likes of Senne Lammens, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford in 2025.

Senne Lammens’ transfer value now is a real eye-opener for Man Utd fans about Ineos’ success

The CIES Football Observatory revealed that Manchester United No 1 Senne Lammens has significantly risen since his move to Old Trafford last summer.

The Red Devils paid £18.1m to Royal Antwerp to sign the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper, but Lammens is now worth £45.5m (€52.7m) in the transfer market.

Lammens’ value, as per the CIES Football Observatory, makes the Man Utd star the third most valuable shot-stopper in world football after his first season in England.

Ineos have more than doubled the transfer value of the Belgium international, which signals a major shift in signing players who could make a viable return for United.

While the Red Devils splashed out on the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Lammens was effectively an unknown quantity for most people.

However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime have moved on from the old — and broken — Man Utd formula of ‘buy high and sell low’ in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

How much is Senne Lammens worth now?

Man Utd got a real bargain… how much of a bargain?

Senne Lammens is not the only example of Ineos’ long-term payoff for Man Utd as time has passed

Patrick Dorgu was a signing that Ineos made during Ruben Amorim’s reign, with the Red Devils paying an initial transfer fee of £25m and agreeing £4.1m in add-ons.

According to FootballTransfers, Patrick Dorgu’s value has since risen and the 21-year-old full-back is now worth around £40m (€46.4m) since his Lecce transfer.

Ayden Heaven, who arrived in the same January 2025 window as Dorgu, reportedly cost Man Utd a transfer compensation fee of around only £1.5m to Arsenal.

However, the emerging 19-year-old United talent has had his transfer valuation significantly increase, with FootballTransfers pricing him at £17.1m (€19.8m).

Lammens, Ayden Heaven and Dorgu are all examples of Ineos looking for sustainable transfer success if the Red Devils ever chose to cash in on talent.
