Jason Wilcox and Ineos have wasted no time in getting Manchester United active in the transfer window after the Red Devils’ move for Ederson this summer.
Atalanta and Brazil midfielder Ederson is set to become Manchester United’s first major summer signing in the Michael Carrick era at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old requires a medical with United and the Red Devils have agreed to pay Serie A side Atalanta a transfer fee of £35m for Ederson.
Ederson’s move to Man Utd is expected to be completed before the start of pre-season in July, which reinforces Jason Wilcox’s major past commitment to fans.

What is your INSTANT REACTION to Manchester United’s deal for Ederson?
Ederson’s transfer to Man Utd echoes the shades of Jason Wilcox’s words after Matheus Cunha signed for the Red Devils
Ineos wasted no time last summer after the Red Devils made an early move for Brazil forward Matheus Cunha while he was at Wolves.
Manchester United activated the £62.5m release clause that was in Matheus Cunha’s contract in June 2025 and ensured the signing was over the line in the same month.
Even United fans were surprised at how fast and efficient the Ineos regime were over the smooth transfer of Cunha from Wolves to Man Utd.
Cunha’s move to Old Trafford in 2025 was underpinned by Jason Wilcox, who showed where Ineos’ priorities were and the time it took to complete the deal.
“Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window,” he said at the time, as per Manchester United’s official website.
Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Jason Wilcox’s statement around the Matheus Cunha deal was at the heart of Man Utd’s transfer of Ederson
Ederson might not be the marquee summer signing of the Red Devils’ window, but there is no denying the Brazil international is a key part of Ineos’ ‘priorities.’
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime faces a major task this summer with the midfield rebuild of the United first-team squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign at Old Trafford.
United need more than one midfielder in the transfer window and Ederson serves as an early foundation for the Red Devils’ busy summer business under Ineos.
Ederson will have time to embed himself at Man Utd — similar to Matheus Cunha — after being well-positioned to feature in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour.
