It was a season of hope and promise from Benjamin Sesko at Man Utd, and his latest remarks have seen him move away from Rasmus Hojlund.

The position of being Man Utd’s striker has been somewhat of a poisoned chalice in recent years, summed up by Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane arrived at Old Trafford as a starry-eyed youngster living a dream, and left in a nightmare he was happy to escape.

Benjamin Sesko has now separated himself from that situation by making a point that couldn’t be said about his predecessor in that position.

Benjamin Sesko invites pressure of being Man Utd’s striker

Sesko finished the season as Man Utd’s top scorer despite starting late and missing some games with injuries in between.

He flourished under Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick, and the hope is that he truly shows his devastating self next season.

At Old Trafford, the expectations are always sky-high, and you are only ever as good as your last game.

Sesko recognises this completely, and in an interview with GIVEMESPORT, relished the pressure of delivering for Man Utd as their first-choice striker.

He said: “I enjoy pressure. If you have pressure, it means you are doing something good. As the striker of Manchester United, obviously people want goals, and that’s why I’m here. I came here to score goals and win titles with this club.”

Anyone who has watched and seen Sesko this season won’t be surprised by these remarks, because he has always shown an elite mentality.

What’s striking to note is how much it stands in contrast to Hojlund when he was at United.

While Sesko relishes the pressure of delivering goals for Man Utd, Hojlund constantly seemed burdened by the same weight.

He has shown at Napoli that he is a better player than he was showing at Man Utd, so the issue was as much about his mentality as it was about his talent.

He seemed to be stuck in a vicious cycle where a lack of confidence saw his form collapse, and a collapse in form led to more loss of confidence.

Hojlund has admitted as much this season by saying he’s feeling free in his new surroundings, which just hammers home that he wasn’t mentally built to play for United.

The pressure which saw Hojlund’s Man Utd career die off is the same one that is creating a diamond in Sesko.
