Where Benjamin Sesko ranks out of all Premier League signings after initially being framed as the worst

In just his debut season at Manchester United, Benjamin Sesko has proven a lot of people wrong.

Unfortunately, Benjamin Sesko was out injured for Manchester United’s final few games of the Premier League season.

But Sesko ended the campaign on 12 goals, meaning he shared the title of United’s top scorer with Bryan Mbeumo in 2025/26.

When Sesko was signed for £66 million last summer, he was immediately met with criticism from the media, pundits and even agents.

Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko become second ever PL trio to score 10+ goals in debut season🔥

What an incredible achievement, how many goals should they each be aiming for in 2026/27?

Benjamin Sesko was rated the worst summer signing

Back in September, in an article from The Athletic, football agents voted Sesko the worst signing by any Premier League club.

Given Sesko’s strong record at RB Leipzig it seemed an extremely harsh judgement call, but Benjamin Sesko has proven them wrong in just his first season.

In The Athletic’s new article ranking all 189 summer transfer deals, Sesko has climbed all the way up to number 29.

They added that Sesko’s record of a goal every 148 minutes is “one of the best ratios in the league”.

Not only did he prove agents wrong, but Sesko silenced pundits who overly criticised him early in his United tenure.

Where Man United’s summer signings ranked

Sesko climbed from being judged as the worst summer signing up to 29 out of 189. But where did United’s other arrivals place?

Unsurprisingly, it was United’s signing of the season Senne Lammens who was ranked the highest all the way up in number nine.

Behind Sesko were the two deals for Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, although they still ranked fairly well at number 38 and 40.

Both brought vital Premier League experience to the squad and hit double-figure goal tallies in the Premier League.
