Benjamin Sesko injury update, Man Utd make decision on whether striker will play vs Brighton

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko was absent from Sunday’s Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

Benjamin Sesko missed the final Old Trafford outing of the season as Manchester United won 3-2 vs Nottingham Forest.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo scored, meaning that all three of United’s new forward signings have reached double figures in their debut season.

But it seems Sesko will be denied the chance to add to his goal tally in 2025/26 because of injury.

Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko become second ever PL trio to score 10+ goals in debut season🔥

What an incredible achievement, how many goals should they each be aiming for in 2026/27?

Benjamin Sesko set to miss Brighton vs Man Utd

Before facing Forest, Michael Carrick provided a Sesko update confirming that he was still “not 100%” after aggravating an injury against Liverpool.

According to The Sun, Sesko is expected to miss the final game of the season when United travel to face Brighton.

Sesko is still recovering from a shin injury, and United are prepared to let him rest and recover with a third-place finish already secured.

With Slovenia not in the World Cup, it means that Sesko’s next appearance will likely come in this summer’s pre-season fixtures.

Assessing Benjamin Sesko’s debut Man Utd season

If Sesko is out for the final game of the season, it means he has completed his debut season with the Red Devils after his £66m move from RB Leipzig last summer.

As things stand, Sesko is United’s top scorer in 2025/26 with 12 goals across all competitions.

Sesko was set a goal target last summer by Rio Ferdinand of 10 goals, and he exceeded that target despite not always being a starter for United.

Considering Sesko was voted the worst signing by agents last summer, he has silenced all of his critics and begun to justify his transfer fee already.
