The spotlight has been on Alejandro Garnacho after he was snubbed by Ruben Amorim.
Ruben Amorim made a bold selection decision against Manchester City by leaving Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the squad.
Amad Diallo justified Amorim’s decision by inspiring United to a dramatic 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium, and Rashford and Garnacho were challenged to regain their spot in the squad.
After being left out of the derby squad, Rashford revealed he is open to leaving United in pursuit of a “new challenge”. He was once again left out by Amorim against Tottenham on Thursday.
However, Garnacho was recalled to the squad and was named on the bench as United bowed out of the Carabao Cup.

Alejandro Garnacho failed to impress for Man United vs Tottenham
United lost 4-3 to Tottenham on Thursday night in a dramatic cup clash in North London.
It was an evening to forget for both goalkeepers in action. Altay Bayindir made two costly mistakes for United while Fraser Forster gave away two goals for Spurs.
However, it also wasn’t a great evening for Garnacho, who came off the bench for the final 20 minutes but failed to impress.
| Minutes played | 20 |
| Touches | 11 |
| Passes completed | 78% (7/9) |
| Possession lost | 3 |
| Duels won | 33% (1/3) |
The 20-year-old only took 11 touches of the ball but lost possession three times.
Dribbling has been a flaw for Garnacho this season and he had a zero percent completion rate against Spurs. United were hunting for an equaliser when Garnacho came on but he was unable to capitalise on the momentum.
Alejandro Garnacho failed to prove Ruben Amorim wrong
Ahead of the Spurs match, Amorim said Garnacho was ‘upset’ over the decision to leave him out on the weekend.
He would have been desperate to prove his manager wrong, but a poor cameo against Spurs has not helped Garnacho’s chances of returning to the starting lineup.
United are next in action on Sunday afternoon against Bournemouth and Garnacho can have no complaints if he is left out again at Old Trafford.

However, Amorim was full of praise for how Garnacho trained this week and the Portuguese boss has already shown that he will select players he thinks have performed well at Carrington.
