Manchester United were claimed by The Times at the weekend to have begun attempting to persuade Zinedine Zidane to take over as manager.
An updated report in the Daily Record, also authored by Duncan Castles, claims Zidane is open to the possibility.
It is claimed United are making progress in persuading Zidane, but there is another complication.

The report states Zidane’s wife is not keen, claiming: “According to a close friend, Veronique Zidane is not attracted to the idea of living in Manchester and would prefer her husband to take a longer break before returning to football.”
ESPN had reported last month that Zidane was not interested in the United job and could hold out to become France manager.
United job should be an attractive one
United are welcome to court Zidane and try and lure him to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He has the star power, a winning track record, and has been proven to win with key players Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.
But the Manchester United job should be a coveted one, and the manager should not need persuading.
Zidane, or whoever United want to take charge, should be jumping at the opportunity if they are currently out of work like he is.
Clearly there are family reasons here that Zidane has to negotiate, but if it is a role he truly wants, he will find a way to make it work.
Zidane stepped down as Real Madrid manager in the summer. He has won three Champions League titles as manager of the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still in post at United and took training earlier today.
If Zidane decides he is ready to take over, United’s position over Solskjaer could be subject to change.
