Manchester United struck an agreement with Ederson under the assumption that the Atalanta midfielder would not be going to the 2026 World Cup.
With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti named his 26-man squad.
While Manchester United duo Matheus Cunha and Casemiro were called up, there was no space for Atalanta’s Ederson.
United struck a £38m deal to sign Ederson in this summer’s transfer window, and now the 26-year-old is set to join up with Ancelotti’s squad for the tournament.

Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Ederson makes Brazil 2026 World Cup squad
According to Brazilian outlet O Globo, Ederson is set to be included in the Brazil squad by Ancelotti.
Right-back Wesley has suffered an injury which will rule him out of the tournament.
Instead of calling up a like-for-like replacement, Ancelotti has reportedly decided to bring Ederson into the squad.
He will join up with soon-to-be teammate Cunha in the Brazil squad as they prepare to kickstart their World Cup campaign on June 13 against Morocco.

Ederson’s Man United arrival will now be delayed

But now he is competing, it will likely change his arrival date, subject to how far Brazil get in the tournament.

United’s first pre-season fixture is against Wrexham on July 18, but Ederson will now be a doubt to feature in that match if he is given an extended break after the World Cup.
Ineos are moving quickly to make other signings, and ideally United will want new players added to the squad ready to take part in pre-season.
