Ruben Amorim could be ready to make Jaydan Kamason the latest Manchester United academy graduate.
The youth record of Ruben Amorim was likely a big factor in Ineos choosing to appoint him as Manchester United head coach back in November.
Amorim’s usage of the academy a Sporting CP was well documented and has lent itself well at Old Trafford with such a rich history of academy integration.
The United Academy has already seen benefits from the 40-year-old’s arrival, with Amorim handing out three debuts so far in the form of Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Tyler Fredricson.

Now, with Europa League football taking priority, Amorim is set to trust the academy players in the Premier League, with Sunday’s game against Brentford being a chance for Amorim to hand out potential United’s 255th academy graduate.
With this in mind, Jaydan Kamason could be set to make his debut with Noussair Mazraoui out of contention.

Who is Jaydan Kamason?
Kamason is an 18-year-old right-sided full-back who is coming through the ranks at United. Seen as a brilliant prospect, Kamason has developed tremendously this season in the U18 and U21 sides.
Widely seen as a future challenger to Diogo Dalot’s position, Kamason’s big chance could come this weekend with Amorim ruling Mazraoui out due to injury as he looks to rest the Moroccan for the second leg of the Europa League.
Kamason has been on the United bench a handful of times and has also been a regular over the past few months in training, which suggests he could be among the frontrunners to debut next.
The right-back has proven this season that he has the creativity and goal threat needed to shine as a wing-back, and it could be against Brentford that he gets his chance.”

Kamason is a history maker at Manchester United
While some academy talents arrive from further afield or come through from younger age groups, Kamason’s route was a less-travelled path.
Kamason became a history maker when he became the first player to graduate from the Elite Talent Programme, which he joined from Stockport Vikings, earning himself a professional contract at the age of 16.
This makes him a trailblazer for United, and to make his debut for the senior side would be a new height for the 18-year-old.
Kamason has been compared with Geovany Quenda
When Amorim first took charge, a move for Sporting wonderkid Geovany Quenda appeared to be on the cards. This is no longer possible with Chelsea signing him, but United can produce their own.
Kamason could be United’s very own Quenda, with the comparison growing in strength as Kamason’s attacking output improves.
Where the comparisons end is that Kamason is much more of a natural wing-back with better defensive output, meaning he could be ideal for the position in Amorim’s system.

Kamason stats 2024/25
So far this season, Kamason has scored twice and contributed nine assists as he has gone from strength to strength under Adam Lawrence and Travis Binnion.
Kamason’s best moment of the season so far has been his brilliant goal, which he scored against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup win. It was a brilliant strike into the far corner from the edge of the box, similar to positions he would be in as a wing-back for Amorim.
Kamason is among the most impressive players in United’s academy
As the season has progressed, Kamason has been labelled as a ‘fantastic’ talent who Amorim cannot ignore by academy staff.
During an U18 game back in February, Kamason was lauded by MUTV pundit Liam Bradford for his excellent defensive work.
“Absolutely brilliant from Jaydan Kamason. He’s done ever so well there, breaking his neck to get back. He’s run his legs off to get back, done really well.”
Kamason has so many traits that Amorim will be a fan of, and so his chances of shining when he makes his debut are high.
