Man Utd academy staff believe ‘fantastic’ teenager will become impossible for Ruben Amorim to ignore

Manchester United fans don’t have much to shout about right now but the club’s academy appears to be developing some real talent.

Manchester United were beaten by Fulham on Sunday, crashing out of the FA Cup on penalties at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim is still fighting to convince the United fanbase after a less than impressive start to his career in Manchester.

Amorim certainly appears to be taking the stance of short-term pain to earn long-term gain, but that gain sadly seems a long way away.

United fans can at least take some pride from the youth setup with academy talents catching the eye.

Alan Shearer praised Chido Obi after his cameo against Fulham on Sunday and Jim Thwaites impressed for United against Arsenal in Friday’s FA Youth Cup win over Arsenal.

Manchester United talent expected to impress Ruben Amorim

Thwaites was superb on Friday night but the star man was right back Jaydan Kamason.

Kamason scored United’s equaliser to make it 2-2 before Bendito Mantato won it, handing United a 3-2 win over Arsenal.

Kamason – who bagged two assists against Chelsea in the previous round – really caught they eye and earned praise from coach Adam Lawrence, as quoted by The Manchester Evening News’ Steven Railston.

“It was a tremendous moment for him to score. He’s a fantastic kid and we’re really excited about him,” said Lawrence.

“He’s always been a full-back that likes to get forward,” he added.

The Daily Mail now report that United staff are growing more and more confident that it’s ‘only a matter of time’ until Amorim considers Kamason for first-team consideration.

United aren’t exactly blessed with wing back options to play in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 system.

That could put Kamason into contention down the line and his progress could put him on Amorim’s radar in the near future.

Jaydan Kamason’s next step is clear

Kamason is certainly an exciting talent and his attacking quality means he could become a wing back option for Amorim.

First-team football is a lofty goal for the 18-year-old though and whilst Amorim could call him into training, the Premier League 2 beckons.

Kamason has made Premier League 2 appearances this season but the next step must be consistent playing time at that level.

We can understand the excitement around Kamason right now but United must be patient and methodical with his development.

A strong run of Under-21 action can give Kamason a great chance for pre-season action with Amorim’s senior side – and that’s exactly how Kobbie Mainoo rose to prominence at Old Trafford.
