The transfer window hasn’t even opened officially yet, and already, Marcus Rashford has dominated the agenda.
Despite a season which saw him deliver double figures in both goals and assists, Barcelona have continued to plead poverty over signing Marcus Rashford permanently.
At the same time, they have signed Anthony Gordon for close to £70m, while talks continue to sign Julian Alvarez for even more than that.
Now, Man Utd have started to answer Barcelona in their own words on this whole situation.
What’s YOUR message to Marcus Rashford after Barcelona’s deal for Anthony Gordon?
Should Man Utd use this reality check to try and bring Rashford back?
Man Utd open Marcus Rashford options
The main reason why Barcelona feel so empowered to play this game with United is because of Rashford’s ill-advised public begging to join Barcelona.
He has been unprofessional in his statement, effectively taking United out of the equation when he’s still contracted to the club until 2028.
Both Rashford and Barcelona think United can be backed into a corner, which is why the Catalans are freely spending money elsewhere, thinking United can’t send him anywhere else.
As per the Manchester Evening News, United have now started to call out their bluff and put a foot down when it comes to Rashford’s options.
The report states that United are inviting Bayern Munich and even Arsenal to bid for the player.
Bayern might enter the race after missing out on Anthony Gordon, while United will consider the right offer even if it comes from a PL rival.
Rashford and Barcelona can’t get their way
This is a game Rashford and Barcelona played last summer and got their way, and the Spanish giants have shown their true colours by not triggering the clause.
Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!
🪄
As for Rashford, he hasn’t disrespected United outright, but he has absolutely done so in a sly manner.
In any case, United can’t afford to let both of them repeat their shenanigans of last summer, even if it means threatening to keep Rashford at the club.
At some point, United need to put their foot down and call out these players holding the club for ransom after finessing a huge contract.
2028 can’t come soon enough when every last bit of contract given out by the Glazer regime is off the books.
Rashford’s will be the most celebrated after everything he’s tried to pull with the club since signing the deal.
