What Sir Jim Ratcliffe has decided about Marcus Rashford’s Man United future

Marcus Rashford faces an uncertain future at Manchester United after being left out of three successive matchday squads.

The 27-year-old watched from the stands at Old Trafford as Manchester United were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Ruben Amorim made the bold decision to leave Rashford out against Manchester City earlier this month and he is yet to return after dropping a bombshell interview.

Before he had even been dropped out of the squad, reports suggested United are open to selling Rashford in 2025, and an exit now feels inevitable after he revealed he wants a “new challenge”.

Marcus Rashford’s interview has not gone down well with fans, with United supporters revealing a damning Rashford banner before the Carabao Cup match against Tottenham.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will let Ruben Amorim decide Marcus Rashford’s future

For a third matchday in a row, Amorim decided to leave Rashford out against Bournemouth on Sunday.

When asked before kick-off about Rashford’s omission, Amorim replied: “It is my decision, and it always will be.”

That certainly appears to be the case with The Times reporting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is prepared to take a back seat in the Rashford saga and let Amorim take complete control.

In an “emphatic” vote of confidence to United’s new head coach, Ratcliffe and CEO Omar Berrada have left the decision over Rashford’s future completely in the hands of Amorim.

Amorim sent an indirect message to Rashford before kick-off when he said: “If you perform, you will get the opportunity”.

When asked if Rashford could return on Boxing Day against Wolves, Amorim kept his cards close to his chest, saying “It depends, we will see.”

Where could Marcus Rashford go if he leaves Man United?

Rashford leaving United in 2025 is feeling more and more likely as each day passes.

There has been plenty of criticism towards his body language and attitude on and off the pitch and a parting of ways might be best for all parties.

In terms of where he could go next, Rashford’s ‘preference’ is to move to Spain but both Real Madrid and Barcelona are not exactly in position to get a deal over the line.

The MLS appeals to Rashford, who controversially jetted off to the US in the November international break, but again a deal would be hard to finance.

Reports suggest Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Rashford having held a long-term interest in him, while Saudi Arabian clubs could sign Rashford if he is open to moving there.
