Andy Mitten has now revealed what he has heard about Roy Keane’s feelings on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes amid their back-and-forth war of words.
Roy Keane has pulled no punches towards Bruno Fernandes and openly blasted the 31-year-old Manchester United captain in the tail end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 54-year-old Irish hardman misquoted Fernandes during one of his tirades about the United star’s bid to break the Premier League assist record in a single season.
However, Fernandes has hit back at Keane over his criticism and called out the legendary former Man Utd skipper misconstruing what he had actually said.

Andy Mitten explains Roy Keane’s remarks about Man Utd and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes at other events
Roy Keane responded to Bruno Fernandes’ recent criticism of him and the Manchester United legend did not apologise for misquoting the midfielder.
Fernandes has been targeted by Sky Sports pundit Keane’s comments in the past, including for the 31-year-old Portugal international’s captaincy at Old Trafford.
Keane sparked backlash from United fans after his latest rant about Fernandes during the no-nonsense Irishman’s appearance on the Stick to Football podcast.
Speaking on The Athletic’s Talk of the Devils podcast, Andy Mitten claimed that Keane has been “very complimentary” about Fernandes in other situations.
“Life is complicated sometimes,” he said.
“I’m told that Roy was very complimentary about Bruno Fernandes at some of the Irish do’s that he’s done recently.
“I actually think he’s got a point where he’s talking about this assist record.”

Fernandes eclipsed Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne for the Premier League assist record on the final day of the 2025-26 league campaign last Sunday.
Mitten insisted that the former Sporting CP midfielder deserved high praise for his individual exploits for Man Utd during the latest season at Old Trafford.
“But who is anyone to police what people can enjoy and talk about? I think it is a big achievement for Bruno Fernandes to be player of the year, to win the assist records,” he added.
“And of course, we prefer to see him lifting Premier Leagues and European Cups, but Manchester United are not at the level at the moment.”
Fernandes won the Premier League Player of the Season, the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards this season.
