What Harry Maguire said to Casemiro as Man United duo spotted arguing against Newcastle

It only took four minutes for things to go horribly wrong for Manchester United against Newcastle.

Ruben Amorim felt Old Trafford was “nervous” during the defeat to Bournemouth, and the only way to shake that feeling is for players to lead from the front and start confidently.

Unfortunately, it was the exact opposite as Manchester United lost 2-0 to Newcastle on Monday evening.

Alexander Isak scored after just four minutes and Newcastle’s lead was doubled 15 minutes later via Joelinton. Frankly, United were lucky to enter half-time only two goals down.

With Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte suspended, Amorim started Casemiro in midfield but the Brazilian struggled badly and was spotted arguing with Harry Maguire after Isak’s opener.

What Harry Maguire said to Casemiro in heated discussion

Casemiro was slammed by Gary Neville for his performance on Monday evening, with the United legend stating he should “never” start alongside Christian Eriksen again.

The 32-year-old certainly had an evening to forget, but early on he was fuming at teammate Maguire for his role in Newcastle’s opener.

Isak burst into the box between Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, who was terrible, and had a free header from close range to give the visitors the lead.

Cameras at Old Trafford spotted Maguire and Casemiro arguing in the aftermath of the goal, and The Chronicle has revealed that Maguire was arguing he was “following his runner”.

The report reads: “Casemiro stood perplexed, barking at his team-mates asking who had let Newcastle’s in-form forward roam free just six yards out. The Brazilian’s anger was caught on camera as Harry Maguire explained he was ‘following his runner’.”

Earlier this month, Amorim loved Amad and Hojlund arguing after the Europa League win over Plzen. Seeing two of United’s most experienced players bicker after just four minutes was probably much less enjoyable.

Casemiro may have played his final Man United game

Casemiro is one of several United players linked with a potential exit in January.

Saudi Arabia have shown interest in Casemiro and after his disappointing display against Newcastle, there is a strong chance he could be moved on next month.

Casemiro’s contract at United is valid until 2026 but the Red Devils will want to cash in on him rather than lose him as a free agent next season.

An exit in January would also clear Casemiro’s £350,000 per week wages off the club’s accounts, freeing up funds to be spent elsewhere.

United continue to be linked with Ederson and other central midfielders ahead of 2025, which only adds fuel to the Casemiro exit rumours.
