Manchester United’s blockbuster move to sign Erling Haaland may not be problematic for next year’s pursuit of Erling Haaland.
In fact, Ronaldo’s presence may actually benefit United and tempt him to Old Trafford.
Next summer Haaland will be on the market and there will be a battle for his signature. City’s failure to sign a striker this summer will no doubt see them involved, but don’t rule United out.
ESPN reported last week that Haaland remains United’s priority target for 2022, despite landing Ronaldo this summer.

Now in a fresh report, journalist James Olley told ESPN: “United need to push City close for the Premier League to show Haaland the gap can be bridged.
“Then other factors — such as his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, strong relationships with former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and former teammate Jadon Sancho — will come into play.”
So what did Haaland say about Ronaldo?
The Norwegian is a big fan of the Manchester United superstar and has made that clear. Haaland admires Ronaldo’s combination of talent and professionalism.
Haaland was quoted by Record: “I would love to meet him and tell him that I am a footballer thanks to him. For me, he was always a model.”
The striker was also quoted by the Bundesliga website: “I don’t know how he does it. He is a big inspiration for all of us and, yeah, look at him, the man is a machine.”

United are in the race
United’s strike options are stacked this season, but Edinson Cavani is set to depart when his contract expires next June.
A spot will open up for Haaland, and in likelihood, Anthony Martial is unlikely to be an obstacle. He may also be moved on.
Ronaldo’s presence is just one more added reason for Haaland to sign with Manchester United next season.
There will be no shortage of interest in Haaland, and he can take his pick. But he need only look at the excitement generated by Ronaldo at Old Trafford this past fortnight to see that this is the place to be.
