What Aston Villa’s press officer has said about Marcus Rashford should concern Ruben Amorim

No matter what he does, Marcus Rashford makes headlines. The Manchester United forward is on loan at Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Joining the Villains during the January transfer window, Rashford has been handed a lifeline by Unai Emery.

Aston Villa may decide to trigger Rashford’s £40 million buy option at the end of the season, but it’s on the Manchester United academy graduate to impress between now and May.

Despite the eyes of the world being on how he does at Villa, Rashford has started brightly. The winger has registered two assists in his first five matches, but Villa are keen to keep a lid on things.

Aston Villa make strict Marcus Rashford request

Having mostly been used as an impact sub, Emery has used Rashford sparingly during his first few weeks in the Midlands. His first, and only, start came during a 2-2 draw against Liverpool last week.

And although the Englishman failed to get himself on the scoresheet, he was one of the biggest talking points after the match. Youri Tielemans was asked how he thought his new teammate did by reporters after the full-time whistle.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the journalists’ enquiries on Rashford were immediately shut down by Villa’s press officer, who was firm in the club not wanting to receive any Rashford-related questions.

It is a strange request from a club who knew the attention surrounding Rashford when they bought him in.

Over to you Ruben Amorim

With Emery and the other Villa player distancing themselves from anything Rashford-related, Ruben Amorim will be braced for yet more questions on the departed winger.

Amorim’s decision to freeze Rashford out is what led to him joining Villa, and the United manager has already made it clear he doesn’t want to talk about the departed loanee.

However, with reporters struggling to get a word on the 27-year-old, Amorim is inevitably going to be quizzed again, and with a huge Europa League knockout tie against Real Sociedad coming up, the Red Devils cannot afford any unwelcome distractions.
