Villarreal team news: Moreno 'out', three more key players injury doubts
While Manchester United are experiencing a stretch of turmoil, Champions League opponents Villarreal are not having the best time of it either.
Villarreal were held to a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at the weekend as their poor season continued.
Unai Emery’s side sit in 12th position in La Liga with just three wins from 13 matches. Just one of these wins have come in their last five games.
Typically, they have been hard to beat, drawing seven of their 13 matches.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Injury battles
The biggest problem for Villarreal this season has been an injury to last season’s top goalscorer Gerard Moreno, who netted in the Europa League final against Manchester United.
AS report Moreno has been ‘ruled out’ of the United game, and he was not even on the bench at the weekend.
There are another three key players also at risk of missing Tuesday’s game with United.
One of these is winger Arnaut Danjuma, who caused real issues for Diogo Dalot in the first game at Old Trafford.
Danjuma has an ankle injury and also failed to make the matchday squad at the weekend.
Midfielder Etienne Capoue also missed the fixture and so did striker Paco Alcacer, who scored Villarreal’s goal at Old Trafford.
With Moreno out, Danjuma, Capoue and Alcacer are doubts, while there are other squad players also battling lighter injuries, AS report.
Whichever team Emery picks, Villarreal will cause issues for United no doubt.
But if they are without first choice striker Moreno and Alcacer, then it may help United’s leaky defence out a little.
Right now we will take all the help we can get.
