Manchester United defender Ethan Laird joined Swansea City on loan earlier this week.
Laird was named as a substitute for his first Swans game, as Russell Martin’s men hosted Stoke.
Laird, 20, was introduced after 58 minutes at right wing-back with Swansea 2-0 down.
They ended up losing 3-1 but Martin said in his post-match press conference that he was excited by Laird’s debut display.

Martin was impressed
“You saw that with Ethan Laird, he added energy to the crowd, he added energy to other players just with his confidence and willingness to go at people straight away,” said Martin.
“He’ll run hard for us. He’s an exciting one and hopefully we can get a couple more in before the end of the window to help the guys we’ve already got.
“All you can ask of your subs is that they have an impact on the game and they both did that.”

Laird had 36 touches in 32 minutes, showcasing his desire to try and make something and get his side back in the game.
He hasn’t had much of a pre-season because of injury, so this was a decent first showing. Laird will only get better and better.
The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan with Martin in League 1 with MK Dons.
Both player and manager have now made the step up to the Championship and now Laird is awaiting his first start to really show what he can do in the second tier.
