Facundo Pellistri scored in his third successive game for Manchester United’s under-23 side at the weekend.

Pellistri helped United to a 2-2 draw with City, in a far more entertaining game than the first team match on Saturday night.

The young Uruguayan now has three goals in six games overall, plus one assist.

It is fair to say he is probably even exceeding expectations at this point.

One of the reasons Pellistri was put into the under-23 team upon his October move from Penarol was because of the big change in culture for him, on and off the pitch.

He had also played very irregularly in the months leading up to his move.

So to see Pellistri making a positive step right away is good to see.

It helps his first team case that he plays in a position where United are desperately short.

Any ray of light from the wing is a positive, and Pellistri could be part of the solution.

His goal was actually scored from a central position after he found space inside the box after good work from Ethan Laird.

United will not rush Pellistri, and it would not be advisable to do so, but he is making a decent case for himself.

There is a strong chance he gets a chance in a cup game, with the FA Cup match with Watford in January one option, or even perhaps a spot on the bench against Everton later this month in the Carabao Cup.

With a busy fixture schedule upon us, it would make sense to mix Pellistri in here and there, especially with just one under-23 game left before the end of the year now.

Here is a look at how fans reacted to Pellistri’s performance at the weekend…
