Kobbie Mainoo’s latest strategy at Old Trafford has now sparked an emotionally charged reaction from Manchester United fans for all of the right reasons.

The 20-year-old Stockport-born midfielder has been left fighting for Manchester United first-team minutes after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim has been playing club captain Bruno Fernandes in a deeper midfield role after the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in the summer.

The 40-year-old United manager has preferred to play Casemiro in the two-man midfield pivot with Bruno Fernandes in his tactical system in the 2025-26 season.

Kobbie Mainoo has been starved of first-team opportunities and the United midfielder has found himself behind Manuel Ugarte at times in the pecking order.

What is Kobbie Mainoo’s new ‘Man Utd’ plan and what are Red Devils supporters saying about it?

According to the Manchester Evening News, Kobbie Mainoo is looking to bounce back and fight for his place back in the starting XI under Ruben Amorim.

The newspaper reports that the midfielder is ‘working hard’ at the Carrington training complex and is doing ‘everything he can to impress’ the Red Devils boss.

Manchester United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, welcomed the commitment that Mainoo is now putting in behind the scenes.

“These are reports we all like to see,” one X user simply said.

Another reacted: “If true, that’s the right mentality and, in the end, if it doesn’t work out, he can always look at himself in the mirror and say I did everything I could. It’s [as] simple as that.”

Someone else suggested: “Good. That’s all anyone wants to hear: do the right things and his talent will shine through.”

“This is exactly how to behave,” a fourth United fan responded.

While a fifth Red Devils supporter said: “Great to hear Mainoo is doing all he can to turn things around! I think he can make it happen!”

And a sixth added: “Turned up to pre-season in the shape of his life, was one of our best performers, has his minutes minimised in a World Cup year for lesser suited/quality players — and has been one of our best players when he’s come on every time — and still acts like this? One to build around.”

“Good on Amorim for bringing this culture. He [is] definitely becoming a regular from October,” somebody else added.

The MEN added that Red Devils talent Mainoo is looking at every provision that he can put in place to help him out, including changing his private chef at home.

The aforementioned decision was part of the England international’s ‘attempt’ at ‘improving’ himself overall, with Mainoo only making four appearances this season.

Mainoo failed to make the England squad for the September international break, but he kept himself busy after Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel snubbed him.

According to reports, the United youth academy product had a ‘private coach’ during the September break and worked with them as part of his current plan.
