Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has come to the rescue on and off the pitch in the span of a week.
Ruud van Nistelrooy led Manchester United to a 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon and Bruno Fernandes stole the headlines with a superb display.
On his 250th United appearance, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring with a curling effort from range and played a big part in the second goal after his header forced an own goal.
Fernandes has been superb under Van Nistelrooy, scoring four goals in his four games as interim manager.
He is now set to join up with the Portugal national squad for the November break before returning to new head coach Ruben Amorim in Manchester later this month.
Bruno Fernandes hailed a ‘hero’ on way to Portugal
Just days after being United’s hero on the pitch against Leicester, Fernandes flew out with teammate Diogo Dalot to meet with the Portugal squad.
As reported by BusinessCloud, Fernandes came to the rescue of a passenger during his flight from Manchester to Lisbon.
Fellow passenger Susanna Lawson recalled the incident and explained that Fernandes had rushed to help a man at the back of the plane who had fallen ill.
She said: “Bruno went to the loo at the back of the plane during the flight. Suddenly heard a shout for assistance which those within hearing distance looked back, including us as we were toward the back.
“Bruno was holding a gentleman who looked like he was passing out. I don’t know if he lost consciousness or not.
“Members of the crew rushed to the back to help. There was a spare seat at the back which Bruno helped the gentleman to sit down on.
“He stayed at the back with them and made sure he was ok. It might have been about 5-10 minutes and then he made his way back to his seat but again very unassuming. He wasn’t looking for any attention on himself.”

Fernandes has faced plenty of criticism since becoming United’s captain, with pundits unhappy with his emotional outbursts on the pitch.
Phil Jones launched a strong defence of Fernandes and lifted the lid on exactly what he is like as a captain.
He insisted that Fernandes leads by example and is a great role model for the younger players.

There can be no questions about Fernandes’ commitment to United. He is always available and always gives 100 percent and his record in terms of goals and assists speaks for itself.
