Manchester United praised by Spanish media

Real Betis are preparing for their upcoming La Liga season, and while much of the focus was on their defeat, Manchester United’s performance could not be ignored.

AS ran the headline ‘United suffocate Betis’, noting that the first half flurry from Erik ten Hag’s side ‘knocked out’ the La Liga team.

United’s hard work off the ball was praised, with two dangerous frontmen picked out as key to the team’s threat in the final third.

The report read: “Betis did not start off too well, finding it very difficult to avoid United’s intense pressing system.

“Ten Hag’s men had the ball and played deep in every play to damage the spaces with the mobility of Rashford and the speed of Amad Diallo.”

Mundo Deportivo felt Betis had been more hard done-by, accusing Amad of diving to win Manchester United’s opening penalty.

The outlet did admit, “United imposed the greater quality and speed of their players.”

Marca added: “United were much superior in the first half, playing comfortably against an imprecise and overwhelmed Betis who did nothing but open the scoring.”

They also praised United’s quality in possession, noting: “Betis could not get the ball and United suffocated the Andalusians.”

Now Manchester United face Liverpool

Manchester United face Liverpool in the early hours of Sunday, concluding the US tour.

Liverpool beat Betis 1-0 and at the same time as United’s win over the Spaniards, Arne Slot’s side defeated Arsenal 2-1.

United face Liverpool in the third match of the Premier League season at Old Trafford, and while the upcoming friendly result will have no bearing on that, it will be a match both teams want to win.

The priority should be coming through the match injury-free, with United already losing Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.
