Mason Greenwood is once again hitting his top form towards the end of the season for Manchester United.
Greenwood has had a difficult campaign, and after coming through it, he is now just one short of hitting double figures for a second successive season.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked thrilled with Greenwood as he congratulated him on his two-goal performance after the 3-1 win at home to Burnley.
Solskjaer was glowing about Greenwood in his post-match press conference.
The United boss told the club website that he has noticed the work Greenwood has been putting in on the training ground.
Solskjaer said: “He’s a good goalscorer, we know that. I thought the goal he scored against Tottenham shows that he’s worked on his game because he can go inside or outside and score, so he went outside.
“Today he goes inside and scores. It must be a nightmare to defend against because he can go in or out, and go to his left or right. I’m so happy for him because he has put down a shift on the training ground.”
Still only 19
Greenwood is still only 19 and is steadily building up his goalscoring tally for Manchester United.
In addition to being United’s joint highest Premier League teenage goalscorer with Wayne Rooney (15), Greenwood has a total of 26 goals for the club in total.
This is already more than Antonio Valencia (25) scored in a 10 year spell at the club, two more than Michael Carrick (24), and nine more than Michael Owen (17).
Greenwood is on a long term contract at United and there is a real chance he could, and should, exceed 100 goals for the club, and could potentially pass 200, and even Wayne Rooney’s record of 253.
His whole career is ahead of him and he is off to a perfect start. Greenwood will want trophies to go along with his goals. Perhaps there will even be one before this season is over.
