Aside perhaps from the obvious requirement to sign a defensive midfielder, Manchester United’s two biggest questions heading into the season remain unresolved.
One is the question over who will be number one goalkeeper this season, and the second is regarding Paul Pogba’s future. Right now, United have not resolved either.

Dean Henderson’s Covid situation means David de Gea will likely start the campaign as number one. But that is a situation enforced on the club rather than one of their own choosing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking about the situation, and has suggested the battle for a place is completely open.
The United boss told The Guardian: “It’s about healthy competition. If you’re too comfortable you don’t get the best out of yourself but it has to be healthy for the team. If it’s toxic, it’s energy sapping. Last year was a new situation for David and Dean. Let’s see how it works out.”

The Pogba situation
Paul Pogba’s new contract remains unsigned, and there is just one year remaining on his deal.
Solskjaer is an optimist, and he believes the France international could lean towards renewing.
The United boss said: “Paul’s always such a positive boy. The talks I’ve had with him have all been positive.”
Solskjaer’s words are somewhat reassuring, but this dance with Pogba has been going on for too long without a resolution now.
If we had to guess, we would suggest that when the transfer window closes, Pogba will still be a United player – but the contract still won’t be signed.
