Shea Lacey made his long-awaited return to first-team action at Manchester United during the win over Brighton.

Manchester United ended the 2025/26 season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Brighton, with Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes scoring the goals.

With United in control of the tie, Shea Lacey was brought on as a substitute by Michael Carrick in the second half.

Lacey impressed in his 33-minute cameo – his first senior appearance since he was sent off against Brighton back in January.

Shea Lacey sends Instagram message after beating Brighton

After contributing to United’s big win, Lacey took to social media to send a message to his supporters.

On Instagram, Lacey wrote: “Always grateful to represent this club and a good win to finish the season.”

Lacey’s United teammates flooded the comments, including World Cup winner Lisandro Martinez, who replied with applause.

Academy teammates Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Amir Ibragimov, Gabriele Biancheri, Ethan Wheatley and others also replied in support of the 19-year-old.

Lacey had to be patient for his chance again in the first team, but getting minutes against Brighton will hopefully propel the teenage forward to build and prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.

How Shea Lacey fits into Man Utd’s 2026/27 plans

Next season, United will return to the Champions League and the Red Devils will be competing in four different competitions.

Carrick will need squad depth in every position, and Lacey will be competing for the spot on the right wing with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo.

Lacey has been putting in extra work at Carrington, and now he has first-team experience under his belt.
