Manchester United fans dropped their clear-cut reaction to Andre Onana’s performance against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils welcomed Crystal Palace to the Theatre of Dreams only days after their 2-0 Europa League win over Romanian outfit FCSB in Bucharest.

Manchester United’s victory at the National Arena on Thursday evening was their second consecutive win under Ruben Amorim across all competitions.

The Red Devils punched their ticket to the last 16 of the Europa League, but Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a major setback on Sunday in their Premier League fixture.

United played out a 0-0 scoreline with Crystal Palace in the first half before the Eagles stunned the Red Devils after the breakthrough Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Eberechi Eze floated a free-kick into the United box and Maxence Lacroix sent a looping header over Andre Onana and onto the crossbar.

Jean-Philippe Mateta pounced on the loose ball after it ricocheted off the bar and he fired a strike past a helpless Onana to put Palace into the lead.

The 27-year-old Palace striker completed his brace in the 89th minute after Daniel Munoz squared the ball to him and Mateta put the ball into the United net.

Onana’s struggles for Man Utd continue

Manchester United have fallen to 13th place in the Premier League table after Crystal Palace inflicted a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace’s victory moved the Eagles to 12th in the Premier League table and Oliver Glasner’s men are now one point clear of the Red Devils.

United are 12 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and the Red Devils have only managed eight wins in 24 matches in the league this season.

Andre Onana returned between the sticks for United after Altay Bayindir picked up a clean sheet for the Red Devils in their win over FCSB.

The 28-year-old Cameroonian shot-stopper had a strong start at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, but Onana has been prone to errors in recent months.

Onana, who came under heavy criticism for his howlers in his debut season at Old Trafford, struggled with his positioning for Jean-Philippe Mateta’s opener.

Man Utd fans react to Onana’s performance vs Palace

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, have called on Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim to play Altay Bayindir ahead of Onana.

Red Devils supporters insisted that Bayindir, who has played second fiddle to Onana, is “more calm and decisive” and would even have ‘tipped’ Lacroix’s “header over.”

“Why isn’t Bayindir getting more play time? Start him already and bench Onana,” one fan demanded.

Someone else argued: “Onana always struggles to set up his defence for set pieces. Bayindir is much better at defending set pieces than Onana.”

Another asked: “Why on earth is Onana getting the nod over Bayindir?”

“Can’t Amorim sub off Onana for a change? Bayindir tips that header over,” a fourth said.

While a fifth tweeted: “Can’t lie Onana makes me nervous. Bayindir is much more calm and decisive.”

A sixth X user wrote: “Andre Onana looks like he short-circuits every time a ball comes into the box. Bayindir deserves a Premier League start.”

“Onana does absolutely nothing when we ‘defend’ set pieces,” somebody else posted.

And an eighth added: “I would play Bayindir over Onana any day.”
