Ruben Amorim has now admitted that he has spotted “really smart” Bruno Fernandes establishing a ‘telepathic relationship’ with one Manchester United first-team star on the pitch.

Bruno Fernandes has been a key Manchester United first-team player since his arrival from Sporting CP in 2020 and still remains an influential force for the club.

The 30-year-old United and Portugal midfielder retained the captain’s armband under Ruben Amorim, having been appointed to the role under Erik ten Hag.

Fernandes is arguably United’s best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era at Old Trafford and has been the difference-maker for the Red Devils time after time.

The United captain had a meaningful impact for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 campaign, with Fernandes netting 19 times and registering 19 assists in 57 matches.

Fernandes’ stunning exploits in United’s woeful campaign last season earned the Portugal international the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a fourth time.

Ruben Amorim makes an eye-opening admission about Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo after Man Utd’s 4-1 win vs Bournemouth

Manchester United were in action against Bournemouth on Thursday and the Red Devils produced a stunning performance at the Soldier Field in Chicago.

Bruno Fernandes was deployed in the midfield pivot alongside Casemiro in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for United, with the Red Devils securing a superb 4-1 win.

Amad Diallo was deployed as the right-sided No 10 and the 23-year-old winger had an impact for United in the second half vs Bournemouth after he netted for his side.

Speaking after United’s win over Bournemouth in Illinois, United manager Amorim said that the connection between Amad Diallo and Fernandes is “really important.”

“I think it was really important, the connection with Amad, the ability to control the ball inside and outside to maintain possession,” he told MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“Bruno is a player [who is] really smart, that can control the tempo of the game, so I’m really happy with him.”

What is next for Man Utd and Ruben Amorim on their summer pre-season tour of the United States?

The Red Devils are heading to the final stage of the US leg of their pre-season tour and United will be back in action on the weekend against Everton.

United will travel to Georgia and will face the Toffees at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, with kick-off for the pre-season friendly scheduled for 10pm UK time.

The Red Devils’ clash on Sunday will be United’s final match in the US this summer and the last of their three Premier League Summer Series ties on the tour.

Amorim’s men have won back-to-back matches since their arrival in the US, following United’s 0-0 draw vs Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden.

United faced West Ham last Sunday at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and the Red Devils left New Jersey with a 2-0 win against the Premier League side.
