Manchester United have a clear contender for the best midfielder in the world in Bruno Fernandes but they’ve been told that he’s not alone in that bracket at Old Trafford.
The recent developments surrounding Bruno Fernandes’ potential transfer have thrown a new light on his importance to Manchester United if that was even necessary.
Ruben Amorim once doused the Fernandes speculation and did it again when Al Hilal readied a massive offer for him.
United can’t afford to lose the one unquestionable “best in the world” contender in their squad but they’ve been told that there’s another player at Old Trafford in that conversation.

It is no secret that Ruben Amorim is gearing up for a large-scale rebuild at Man Utd in the summer because the quality of the squad is sorely lacking.
There are only a few untouchables in the Man Utd squad and most have either joined recently or become favourites of the manager as they did with the previous one.
However, one player has now been called ‘one of the best in the world’ when he wasn’t even trusted by his first two managers at Old Trafford.
Carlos Goncalves, owner of Proeleven, has claimed that his client, Diogo Dalot, is among the best players in the world, quite a tall claim.
He said (via A Bola): “Diogo is an exceptional player, an exceptional person. What he has done doesn’t surprise me, he has always been very focused, very professional, very hard-working.
“Diogo was always working. At the time, AC Milan showed interest in having him, I think it was an important year. He came back later, and everyone can see what Diogo has been doing.
“United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, regardless of the current situation, and there is no doubt that Diogo is also one of the best players in the world.”
Decoding Diogo Dalot as one of the best in the world
Dalot is certainly up there when it comes to being available, as he’s become a model professional on and off the pitch in terms of his recovery, fitness adherence, and versatility.
However, the last of those three might be working against him because he hasn’t been able to nail down one place in the team, hurting his form.
He’s invaluable to Man Utd but this team itself is unbalanced, and Dalot’s ideal position under Ruben Amorim might be one he hasn’t even played in so far!
It’s impossible to compare players across different leagues playing in different systems and teams but when one talks about the best right-backs in the world, Dalot is not a name near the top in many conversations.
That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, since the Portuguese has shown tremendous grit to establish himself at Old Trafford.
It just means that he’s not one now, so this talk is more along the lines of an agent generally hyping his player up, only this time, the player deserves it.
