Ruben Amorim is getting to know a lot about his team in his first full season at Manchester United, and he has singled out one player who is different from his teammates in a manner that is needed the most.

After two transfer windows, including a summer one, Ruben Amorim can confidently say that the squad he has at his disposal is at least 75% of his making.

Ineos have backed him well, and it is up to him to deliver, while also healing the scars of last season, which clearly hold the team back now.

Amidst those scars, however, he has identified a player unaffected by them, making him a different player from the rest of his teammates.

Ruben Amorim makes Bryan Mbeumo claim

Manchester United’s start to the season might not be the best, at least in terms of raw results, but the performances of Bryan Mbeumo certainly have been.

Mbeumo has looked like a man on a mission at times this season, even when the team was going through a tough moment.

It’s clear that the scars of last season have failed to engulf him in the malaise, and the result is Amorim noticing a difference in him compared to the rest of the squad.

While the rest of the squad seems to cower under the weight of setbacks and start fearing the worst, Mbeumo keeps going until the end to make a difference.

Amorim said: “If you look at Bryan [Mbeumo] in those moments when we are struggling, you feel a different guy compared to the rest of the team, and you have to understand that some of the guys are here for a while, and that feeling is still here [that something bad will happen], and for that, we need to win games. That is something about the environment.”

Mbeumo has become a favourite of Ruben Amorim

In the same press conference, Amorim went on to add that Mbeumo has always impressed him as a player, even when he was at Brentford.

Amorim spoke about his game against United last season, which Brentford won 4-3, and pointed out that Mbeumo’s quality off the ball was as crucial as his impact on it.

The Man Utd manager is itching to reset the culture of the dressing room and fill it with hardworking players who are willing to leave everything on the pitch.

As such, a player like Mbeumo is crucial to make things work because he sets the example with his quality on and off the ball.

For once, United have a bona fide matchwinner beyond Bruno Fernandes, and that is not something many managers have been able to say about their time at Old Trafford.
