Manchester United are in a positive place right now, and Ruben Amorim will hope the corner has finally been turned on his disastrous 10 months at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim will know that he is in the last chance saloon right now at Manchester United after how terrible things have been since he took charge.

Under the management of Amorim, United haven’t yet won back-to-back Premier League games, which is the first objective that must be checked off before fans can begin to feel confident of the improvement being lasting.

Last weekend, United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford, which felt like a big result at the time and sets Amorim up with the chance to win three in a row, with winnable games coming up.

The first of these comes this weekend against Brentford, where there are a handful of storylines. United haven’t won at the Brentford Community Stadium since the 2021/22 season.

United lost 4-3 to Brentford away last season, and Amorim will hope to keep the same attacking output, but concede less, with Bryan Mbeumo another massive story.

Ruben Amorim says he is delighted with Bryan Mbeumo

Saturday sees the return of Mbeumo to a familiar location, back to the venue which he called home for six years of his footballing career.

Mbeumo was Brentford’s main man last season, establishing himself as one of the best in the league, and he is already seen as United’s star player in attack.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Amorim has spoken to the press and MUTV about Mbeumo and the impact he has had since arriving for £65m.

“It’s really important for everything he has been doing. The light he brings to the dressing room.”, Amorim explained.

“He is not the guy who talks, but he is always there to help us. He runs a lot, presses a lot; he is a different threat than last season. I’m more than happy with Bryan.”

Mbeumo has clearly made an impact and is firmly now undroppable within Amorim’s plans.

Bryan Mbeumo can give Manchester United lift off under Ruben Amorim

Last time United travelled to Brentford, Ben Thornley was blown away by Mbeumo, raving about the Cameroon international almost as though he knew he would become a Red Devil.

Well, this time around, United will need Mbeumo on top form, and if he can inspire a win, it would potentially be a watershed moment for Amorim.

While beating Chelsea was good, United needs that second win in a row to really begin gaining momentum and moving away from crisis stations.

Winning against Brentford would, for the first time under Amorim, give some breathing space ahead of newly promoted Sunderland visiting Old Trafford next weekend. Quite simply, this is a must-win clash.
