Manchester United’s Premier League win over Chelsea had plenty of positives for Ruben Amorim to take, with a handful of players shining bright.

After a week packed with discussions around the future of Ruben Amorim, a win over Chelsea was exactly what the head coach needed to silence those rumours.

Manchester United took advantage of Chelsea’s early sending off, taking a two-goal lead which proved insurmountable for the visitors.

Despite a second-half resurgence, following Casemiro’s red card, United beat Chelsea 2-1, holding on despite the pressure, which will be huge for the team’s confidence.

In the game, Matthijs de Ligt was one of United’s best players, being dominant in defence and also pressing high up the pitch to overload the Chelsea backline.

Noussair Mazraoui also had a strong performance, winning all of the duels he competed in, being almost the unsung star of the show for United.

However, there was one player who stood out as United’s best, and now Bruno Fernandes has complimented him.

Bryan Mbeumo sends a message after Manchester United’s win

This season so far has seen new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha demonstrate new levels to Manchester United, with both immediately becoming among the best at the club.

On Saturday, United fans were impressed by Mbeumo for his brilliant performance, despite not bringing a goal this time out.

Mbeumo was United’s player of the match and will feel he should have added to his goal tally.

Following the game, Mbeumo took to Instagram with a message to fans.

“Big mentality and big win today! Thanks for the fans again”, followed by two heart eye emojis, as Mbeumo highlighted the significance of the win.

In the responses, Fernandes sent his message to his teammate, writing: “What a player”, with a praise emoji.

Mbeumo then responded with a heart, showcasing the relationship the pair have already established despite only playing together for a matter of months.

As much as he didn’t score, Mbeumo had an equal part in the victory as Fernandes and Casemiro did, thanks to his role in getting Robert Sanchez sent off just five minutes into the game.

This left Chelsea on the back foot, and Enzo Maresca tore up whatever game plan he originally had. Speaking after the loss for Chelsea, Maresca admitted he wished Sanchez had just let Mbeumo score.

“It was better to let Mbeumo score than to get the red card”, Maresca explained, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“We still had 95 minutes to play… Robert Sanchez is aware of that. It’s difficult… but if you ask me, I prefer to be one goal down after five minutes than one player down”.

Mbeumo would agree with this, as a goal would have been his third for the club and would’ve given United the chance to judge themselves 11 vs 11.
